Rick and Kathy “migrated” to California in early 1998 from Northern Virginia just outside Washington, DC. They had long dreamed of one day operating a luxury B&B, and of living in Northern California. After 1½ years of searching they found Old Thyme Inn and were able to realize both dreams.
Rick’s background is in theatre/performing arts, and in sales and marketing of computers and hi-tech products and services. At Old Thyme Inn, in addition to guest-related activities, he’s responsible for marketing, advertising, bookkeeping, and keeping the computers running. He also fixes things—and in a 112+ year old house with 8 bathrooms, there are always plenty of such details needing his attention. In his “spare time,” Rick pursues an encore career as a voice actor. Hear Rick's voiceovers here.
When not attending to details and duties as an innkeeper, Kathy paints en plein air—many of her recent oil paintings are displayed on the walls of the Inn, and are available for purchase at the Inn, and by visiting her site at kathrynellisart.com. She is also a consummate artiste in the kitchen as is best appreciated at our daily gourmet full breakfast, and in the garden as a few minutes sampling its charms will attest. Her interior decorating abilities can be experienced throughout the Inn.
